The Words I Say…

“If it were not so, I would have told you.” (John 14:2, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Do we really believe that? Belief is based on trust. Which in turn is based upon the character and reliability of the one we trust and believe in. In this case, we need only to look to the Father. “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me.” (John 14:9–10, NIV 1984).

So, the words of the Son are also the words of the Father. And “not one of all the Lord’s good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.” (Joshua 21:45, NIV 1984). And not one will fail that is made by the Son.

My Advice – If you believe in the Father (God), you can believe in the Son (Jesus). “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” (John 14:1–4, NIV 1984).

But if we do not believe in the Son, no place is being prepared for us. And while He is still coming back, He is not coming back for us. For, “no one comes to the Father except through [the Son].” (John 14:6, NIV 1984).If it were not so, [He] would have told [us].”

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
