My Peace I Give You

“Peace I [Jesus] leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27, NIV 1984).

My Musings“Peace…not…as the world gives.” For in this world, peace is an illusive and fragile thing. And there are so many things that disturb the peace. “We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there was only terror.” (Jeremiah 8:15, NIV 1984).

My Advice – “My peace I give you.” It is HIs to give, for He is the Prince of Peace. “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7, NIV 1984). It even transcends whenever “no good has come” to us and “only terror” surrounds us. Yet while others may be troubled or afraid, those of us who belong to Christ need not be. God’s peace is guarding our hearts and minds.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
