For the UnGodly

Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:6–8, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Just let that sink in for a bit. Just the opposite of what one would think. At least that would be our way. “Turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on [us], and to our God, for He will freely pardon. ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord.” (Isaiah 55:7–8, NIV 1984). For if His ways were our ways. there would be no hope for anyone.

My Advice“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are [His] ways higher than [our] ways and [His] thoughts than [our] thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:9, NIV 1984). Jesus’ thoughts were on us as He carried the cross on the way to Calvary. It was not a way that we could take, so He took it for us. Give that some thought. If that’s not love….

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
