It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. (Romans 9:16, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Who would not desire an eternity with God? Who would not make every possible effort to achieve it? But our desires and efforts will never be sufficient to make it happen. That said, it is almost inconceivable that anyone would spurn God’s mercy. Yet many do. And without that mercy, justice must prevail.
My Advice – “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.” (Psalm 51:1–2, NIV 1984). If we cry out to Him, He will answer.
