It is the Power of God

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength. (1 Corinthians 1:18, 20, 21, 25, NIV 1984).

My Musing – Those who are perishing are those who have rejected the message of the cross. Of course they would think it foolish (unwise). Such is “the wisdom of the world.” But “they are foolish, for they do not know the way of the Lord, the requirements of their God.” (Jeremiah 5:4, NIV 1984).

Thinking that something is foolish and that something actually being foolish are not always the same. Such is the case “for the message of the cross.” For through this foolishness, in the eyes of the world, has the power “to save those who believe.

My Advice – “The foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom.” Man’s wisdom says the “message of the cross is foolishness.” They will perish with their so-called wisdom. Let’s cling to this so-called foolishness and be saved by the power of the cross. It is the wise thing to do.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
