What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? God will judge those outside. (1 Corinthians 5:12–13, NIV 1984).
My Musings – I am afraid that this principle is disregarded by too many of us within the church. We also tend to forget that the very things that we judge those outside the church are often the very thing that “some of [us were.” (1 Corinthians 6:11, NIV 1984). We should remember that all of us had a past before coming to Christ. Only grace separates us from them. For those still living in the past, “will not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Genesis 18:25, NIV 1984). He will.
My Advice – “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Matthew 7:1–2, NIV 1984). I am afraid that the measure we like use to judge those outside the church is likely not the way we would like to be judged. We should think about that the next time we are tempted to cast stones.
