That You May Know

My purpose is that [you] may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that [you] may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that [you] may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. (Colossians 2:2–4, NIV 1984).

My Musings – People were deceived back in Christ’s day and are still being deceived today. No longer a mystery but disputed nonetheless by “fine-sounding arguments” or an “[in]complete understanding” of who Jesus really is and why He came.

My Advice – Be careful who you listen to. ‘”Do not let [anyone] among you deceive you…They are prophesying lies to you in my name. I have not sent them,’ declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 29:8–9, NIV 1984). Rather, “what you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.” (2 Timothy 1:13–14, NIV 1984).
