An Eternal Glory

So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18, NIV 1984).

My Musings – It is so easy to focus on the things that are right in front to of us at the present time. Whether it be sinful pleasures that will not satisfy for long, or unpleasurable afflictions that will ultimately fade away. Paul calls these latter things “light and momentary troubles [that] are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” (2 Corinthians 4:17, NIV 1984).

My Advice – The question for us is whether we are willing to accept what is “light and momentary” in exchange for the sinful pleasures in this life in order to “achieve an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” It’s a good trade. “Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5, NIV 1984).

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
