Evident to All

Let your gentleness be evident to all. Philippians 4:5, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Gentleness. I like the definition in the 1828 version of Webster’s American Dictionary of the English Language. “Softness of manners; mildness of temper; sweetness of disposition; meekness.” A characteristic of our Savior, which we should emulate. “See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey.” (Zechariah 9:9, NIV 1984).

My Musings – In the generation that we presently live in, it is hard for gentleness not to be evident. If we are to stand out, let it be because we share the qualities of Christ.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
