God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. (1 Thessalonians 4:7, NIV 1984).
My Musings – God does not call the pure or holy, because there are none who are. But when we do respond to His call, “though [our] sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18, NIV 1984). This is totally His doing. Then there is a new calling.
What we were powerless to do before (live pure and holy lives), we are enabled to do through the power of the Holy Spirit. This becomes the calling of all true believers. It does not mean we will never slip up. We will, on occasion, give in to our old sin nature. But “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, NIV 1984).
My Advice – We need to be true to our calling. To “live up to what we have already attained.” (Philippians 3:16, NIV 1984), through the grace of God and the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus the Christ.
