Great Gain

Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. (1 Timothy 6:6–8, NIV 1984).

My Musings – It seems almost impossible to conceive of Godliness without contentment, or contentment without Godliness. We can’t have one without the other. “Naked [we come] from [our] mother’s womb, and naked [we] will depart.” (Job 1:21, NIV 1984). True contentment from anything else in this world, is illusory and will not survive the grave.

My Advice – If we seek Godliness through Christ and the Holy Spirit we will leave this world in peace.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
