God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord. (2 Timothy 1:7–8, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Imagine what our “testimony about our Lord” would be like if the “spirit of power” was not coupled with “love and… self-discipline.” Better a “spirit of timidity” than that. But that is not what He gave us. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, NIV 1984).
My Advice – “Even when [we are] old and gray, do not forsake [us], O God, till [we] declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.” (Psalm 71:18, NIV 1984). His power to save. It is our sacred duty. To the “ends of the earth,” to “the next generation.” Until we are “old and gray,” or until He returns.
