Do Your Best

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:14–15, NIV 1984).

My Musings – These are the things we need to continually ask ourselves. Are we really doing our best? Would He approve, or will we be ashamed when we are presented to Him? How can we know, what will guide us? “Correctly [handling] the word of truth.”

My Advice – It is being mishandled a lot these days by people taking it in directions that were not intended in order to please their own understanding. But we “[must] not turn from it to the right or to the left.” (Joshua 1:7, NIV 1984), or “depend on [our] own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5, NLT 2015).

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
