The Word of God

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12, NIV 1984).

My Musings – In response to a rumor that he was gravely ill and possibly dead, Mark Twain wrote to a newspaper that “the reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” Allegations that God’s word is gravely outdated or possibly irrelevant to today’s society is worse than greatly exaggerated. It is categorically “fake news.”

Our actions, including our underlying thoughts and attitudes, will either be judged by God’s word or whether we “knew” His Son. There will be no splitting hairs. “‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'” (Matthew 7:22, NIV 1984).

My Advice – It’s that simple. “There [will be] no dark place, no deep shadow, where evildoers can hide. God has no need to examine men further.” (Job 34:22–23, NIV 1984).

Only the “deep shadow” of the middle cross can save us. “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.” (Matthew 25:34, NIV 1984).

If it does not cover us, “God has no need to examine [us] further.” We will stand condemned. “Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41, NIV 1984).

These are “the [words] of God.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
