A Restless Evil

No man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. (James 3:8, NIV 1984).

My Musings“The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.” (James 3:6, NIV 1984). My musings seem hardly necessary. We all know these passages are true. Try as we might, “no man can tame the tongue.” But the Holy Spirit can. We must allow Him to “keep [our] tongue from evil and [our] lips from speaking lies.” (Psalm 34:13, NIV 1984).

My Advice – As Christians, we cannot allow “fresh water and saltwater flow from the same spring.” (Jamess 3:11, NIV 1984). Otherwise, it will undermine our witness and inhibit our Spiritual growth. “My brothers [and sisters], this should not be.” (James 3:10, NIV 1984).

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
