No Lies Come from the Truth

All of you know the truth. I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth. Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ…No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. (1 John 2:20–23).

My Musings – Ever since the Garden, lies have been substituted for the truth. What are the lies about the Son that people use to displace the truth? That He was merely of man of history. Just a good moral teacher. His miracles were mere folklore. His resurrection a fabrication. All of which is to deny “that Jesus is the Christ. All of which are lies. Lies that will condemn those who believe them to eternal judgement. Another truth that is largely denied that a loving God would ever allow.

My Advice“[Acknowledging] the Son” is more than lip service or benign acquiescence in the mind. “Even the demons believe that—and shudder.” (Jamess 2:19, NIV 1984). Those who truly “acknowledges the Son“have chosen the way of truth; [they] have set [their] heart on [His] laws. ” (Psalm 119:30, NIV 1894). It is an acknowledgement that is not merely informative (mind) but rather is transformative (heart). Because it should come as no surprise that “no lie comes from the truth,” and no truth comes from lies. We seem to have forgotten that.
