Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:3–5, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Without the resurrection, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ would merely be a footnote in history of another good man who tragically died too young. For, “if Christ has not been raised, our [musings are] useless and so is [our] faith. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead.” (1 Corinthians 15:14, 20, NIV 1984). Thus, we have “an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for [us].” All because God “[did] not abandon [Him] to the grave, nor [did He] let [His] Holy One see decay.” (Psalm 16:10, NIV 1984).
My Advice – Do “not [be] ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” (Romans 1:16, NIV 1984). The power that raised Jesus from the dead, will also raise those who believe.
