Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. (1 Peter 2:1–3, NIV 1984).
My Musings – It is inconceivable to me that anyone who has tasted, really tasted, would not find “that the Lord is good.” And having done so, would not “crave pure spiritual milk,” would not want to “grow up in [their] salvation.”
But they would not want to remain on a milk diet. They would want to move on to solid food. For, “solid food is for the mature.” (Hebrews 5:14, NIV 1984). For those who want to “leave the elementary teachings…and go on to maturity.” (Hebrews 6:1, NIV 1984). A craving that should never go away once they have “tasted that the Lord is good.”
My Advice – Just like “the boy Samuel [who] continued to grow in stature and in favor with the Lord and with men,” (1 Samuel 2:26, NIV 1984). If we are not growing in spiritual stature, we will remain “infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.” (Ephesians 4:14, NIV 1984).
