For the Will of God

[Christians do] not live the rest of [their] earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. For [they] have spent enough time in the past doing what [those in the world] choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. (1 Peter 4:2–3, NIV 1984).

My Musings – God did not save us from our sins so we could remain in our sin. He set us on a journey to have our lives “transformed into his [Son’s] likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18, NIV 1984). This journey cannot be fully completed this side of eternity. “But we know that when He appears [or calls us home], we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as he is.” (1 John 3:2, NIV 1984).

My Advice“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.” (Psalms 92:12–13, NIV 1984). Grow and flourish “with ever-increasing glory.” Do “not live…life for evil human desires.” God only knows we “have spent enough time in the past doing” just that.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
