I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things. (2 Peter 1:15, NIV 1984).
My Musings – “Make every effort to” leave your loved ones “things” to remember after you are gone. Good things. Important things. For me, I can think of no better things than to “add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:5–8, NIV 1984). Yeah, “these are the words I would say.”
My Advice – These “things” will be better remembered if we have modeled them in our own lives. Do not “let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.” (Deuteronomy 4:9, NIV 1984). There isn’t a better inheritance to leave them with “after [our] departure.”
