A man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. (2 Peter 2:19, NIV 1984).
My Musings – What is it that has mastered us? We should have the same mindset as the Apostle Paul, while knowing that “everything is permissible for [us]…[we] will not be mastered by anything.” (1 Corinthians 6:12, NIV 1984). While there was a “time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures.” (Titus 3:3, NIV 1984). We have been bought with a price, and the Lord is our Master now. Do we really “wish to be enslaved by [all kinds of passions and pleasures] all over again?” (Galatians 4:9, NIV 1984)?
My Advice – “The ox knows his master, the donkey his owner’s manger.” (Isaiah 1:3, NIV 1894). Don’t be “foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved” by what is not beneficial to Kingdom living. Let’s show that we are at least as smart as a dumb old ox by allowing the Holy Spirit to be master over our lives.
