Certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. (Jude 4, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Often, our greatest foes come from within. They take the truth and subtly twist it to become something that it is not. Two examples are cited in the text (there are many more). That grace allows us to live immorally if we please. Denying the deity of Christ. “These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.” (Jude 19, NIV 1984). Their “condemnation was written about long ago.” They are “foes of the righteous [and] will be condemned.” (Psalm 34:21, NIV 1984).
My Advice – “But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.” (Jude 20–21, NIV 1984). So, be careful who you trust to “build yourselves up” lest you find that they are tearing you down.
