I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. (Revelation 2:4–5, NIV 1984).
My Musings – Our first love must be and always remain the Godhead. We must “love the Lord [our] God with all [our] heart and with all [our] soul and with all [our] strength.” (Deuteronomy 6:5, NIV 1984). “And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.'” (Matthew 22:38–40, NIV 1984).
My Advice – That is the height we must not fall from or return to if we have fallen. If we feel that we have fallen, this is the prayer of repentance. “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” Psalms 51:10–12, NIV 1984).
