Everything New

Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” (Revelation 21:3–5, NIV 1984).

My Musings – In this text, the “now” speaks of the future, which “is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here.” (Romans 13:11–12, NIV 1984). There is, however, another text that speaks of a present reality. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old [order] has gone, the new has [already] come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV 1984). But we must be made new now, in this “old order of things” in order to dwell with Him when He “[makes] everything new.”

My Advice “Who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears?” (Malachi 3:2, NIV 1984). “Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Revelation 21:27, NIV 1984). These are the ones who “will be His people.” Make sure your name is on the list.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
