A Birthday Tribute

Happy Heavenly birthday Eileen. She became my blushing bride at 19 and would have been 70 today.

“To have and to hold, from that day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death did we part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto we pledged our faith.”

“[She] fought the good fight, [she has] finished the race, [she] kept the faith. Now there is in store for [her a] crown.” (2 Timothy 4:7, NIV 1984).

As for me…

Why am I losing sleep over you?
Reliving precious moments we knew
So many days have gone by
Still, I’m so lonely and I
Guess there’s just no getting over you.

Within the prison walls of my mind
There’s still a part of you left behind
And though it hurts I’ll get by
Without your loving yet I
Guess there’s just no getting over you.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
