Say Again

When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.” (Acts 17:32, NIV 1984).

My Musings – We cannot predict, nor are we responsible for, those who will sneer. Neither can we predict, nor take credit for, those who will want to hear more. But we must be able to share what we believe and why. Both (what and why) are important. The first (what) is remarkably easy. The second (why), should not be that hard. But if we cannot reasonably defend the why, we should not be surprised if most will sneer and not want to hear us again on the subject.

My Advice“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience.” (1 Peter 3:15-16, NIV 1984). It takes preparation, but don’t we want to keep our conscience clear?

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
