If a man sins against another man, God may mediate for him; but if a man sins against the Lord, who will intercede for him? (1 Samuel 2:25, NIV 1984).
My Musings – A recognition of the inadequacy of priests and sacrifices. “Day after day every priest [stood] and [performed their] religious duties; again, and again [they offered] the same sacrifices, which [could] never take away sins.” (Hebrews 10:11, NIV 1984). What then? “When [Jesus] had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.” (Hebrews 10:12, NIV 1984). To do what? “Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” (Romans 8:34, NIV 1984).
Of course, all of us has “[sinned] against the Lord.” “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, NIV 1984). And all are in need of an intercessor. There is only one. “Jesus [said], ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'” (John 14:6, NIV 1984).
My Advice – “Who will intercede for [you]?” “[You can] have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus.” (Hebrews 10:19, NIV 1984). He will intercede. For, “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, NIV 1984).
