Boundary Lines

Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely, I have a delightful inheritance. (Psalm 16:5–6, NIV 1984).

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NIV 1984)

My Musings – A couple of my favorite passages from the Bible. The “troubles” we encounter in this world are more than overcome by the “delightful inheritance” we have if we’ve placed our faith in Christ. We likely feel at times that “[our] portion and [our] cup]” are more than we can bear. Yet we can be assured that there are “boundary lines” the God will not allow to be crossed. And one day, when we have finally “overcome the world” and have passed into His presence, we will fully realize that “[our] lot [was always] secure.” And that is an encouraging thought.

My Advice“He took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, ‘drink from it.” (Matthew 26:27, NIV 1984). Take what is offered from His hand.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
