You Cannot Do This

“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” (Luke 12:25–26, NIV 1984).

My Musings – I know worrying works, because none of the stuff I worried about ever happened – Will Rogers. We all know it does no good, but we all still do it. “O [we] of little faith!” (Luke 12:28, NIV 1984). It cannot prevent what is bound to happen and is pointless if what we worry so much about never happens anyway.

My Advice – This is not to say that life will be trouble free. It won’t. But “we [should] know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28, NIV 1984). So, “do not worry about the rest,” because “in all things” leaves no room for the rest. If you’re one of the called. All you have to do is answer the call.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
