Divine Retribution

Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” (Isaiah 5:4, NIV 1984).

My Musings – These are fearful times. We (the world) have seen fearful times before, only to have fortunes turn to better times. This may again be the case, or maybe not. But delays in His vengeance are merely another manifestation of His boundless grace and mercy. “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9, NIV 1984).

Divine (Godly — righteous and just) retribution (punishment for doing something wrong) will come someday. But that is not how He would have had it. He would rather “come to save [all].” His Son…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
