Until The Lord’s Coming

Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. (James 5:7–8, NIV 1984).

My Musings – I think that many of us are being weighed down by “battle” fatigue. As it gets more difficult to stand firm for in our faith, maybe we get a little too eager for the Lord’s return. Maybe that’s fine for those of us whose eternal destinies are secure, but there’s a lot of “valuable crop” out there remaining to be harvested. They need the “spring rains” offered by the witness of the Church and may not be ready if there is an early “autumn.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
