You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who brag about the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.” (Romans 2:21–24, NIV 1984).
My Musings – The list could go on and on. It should serve as a sober reminder for those of us who belong to Christ. To be careful about raining down condemnation on those who do not belong. They stand condemned already, and the only thing that separates us from them is our relationship with Jesus Christ. Which is by grace, not by merit. Our sins are just as reprehensible as theirs, just forgiven.
There is no expectation for the lost to honor God. But there is for the redeemed. When we do not, by disobeying God’s words, we blaspheme His name “among the [lost].” How could we possibly expect them to honor Him if we do not? How could be possibly expect them to see the difference Christ makes in our lives, when we do not allow Him to make a difference? “Who is it [we] have insulted and blasphemed? Against whom…? Against the Holy One of Israel!” (2 Kings 19:22, NIV 1984). That’s who.
My Advice – May we “live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse [us] of doing wrong, they may see [our] good deeds and glorify God.” (1 Peter 2:12, NIV 1984). And maybe, just maybe, they will be drawn to Father instead of being repulsed by our actions.

Living out our faith so unbelievers will be drawn to Christ is so important.
