A Double Crown

Gray hair is a crown of splendor…Children’s children are a crown to the aged. (Proverbs 16:31, 17:6, NIV 1984).

My Musings – I grew up with a “double crown,” which has always made hairstyling a bit of a challenge. I hated it and felt cursed with it. In retrospect, a trivial matter in the grand scheme of my life.

But in my “old” age, I have been blessed with a different kind of “double crown: Gray hair (most males on dad’s side became bald early in life), and a later in life (at age 67) grandson.

My Advice – Don’t allow yourself to get too upset about trivial matters. Don’t take blessings for granted.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
