Proverbs 16:3 – Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. (NIV 1984)
My Musings – They will succeed because anything we are willing to commit to God is likely to inspired by pure, honest and noble motives.
My Advice – Anything that is worthy of your time and attention is too important not to commit to God. Make sure everything important thing you do starts with this step.
THE BEAST FROM THE EARTH – Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon. He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man’s number. His number is 666. (Revelation 13:11-18)
Coming Out of the Earth, the Third Person of the Unholy Trinity – This second beast (apparently the one referred to as “the false prophet” in Revelation 19:20 and 20:10) will be Continue reading “THE False Prophet”
John 10:3-4 – He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. (NIV 1984)
My Musing – I don’t know if you can identify with this Sunday’s comic strip, but I sure can. For goodness sake, don’t make her say your last name! But how does this relate to the above verse? As children of God we should know His “voice.” That pricking of our conscience that tells we better do this or better not do that. Sometimes it comes as a gentle “whisper.”
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21, NIV 1984)
That should be enough for us to “follow Him.” Unfortunately, that is not always the case. Like sheep we have a tendency now and then to wander and go astray. On such occasions, that gentle whisper becomes firmer, until we respond. For goodness sake, don’t make Him say your last name!
My Advice – My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. (Proverbs 3:11-12, NIV 1984) We should be very concerned if we do not hear His voice of rebuke. Because if we are His “sheep” we will hear His voice and (eventually) follow Him. If we don’t hear HIs voice…
Proverbs 15:1 – A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. (NIV 1978)
My Musings – Responding gently does not mean that we have to be a doormat. But it does show that we value relationships, peace and reconciliation over rights, strife and pride.
My Advice – You will have many opportunities to respond harshly to others. But even when you are wronged, and may be justified in answering harshly, try a gentle response. You will be pleasantly surprised to see how often this turns enemies into friends rather than affirming their animosity and how well it maintains rather than damages relationships.
Proverbs 10:9 – The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out. (NIV 1978)
My Musings – An honest man walks securely, because he never has to wonder when (not if) his deceit will begin to unravel and how severe the repercussions might be.
My Advice – Cutting corners, or fudging the truth will not give you permanent gains. What you might gain for a short time, will always come back to haunt you. Do it right and do it honestly the first time and you will never have to worry about this.
The End Time Anti-Christ – The two historical candidates aside (in his epistles John said there were many anti-Christ’s in the world), it is possible that a world Empire is still to come (a “revived” Roman Empire?), which will be rooted in all the previous Empires and unite all the evil and power of the previous Empires under the anti-Christ. Added to the ferocity of this beast will be Continue reading “THE Anti-Christ?”
Lofty lectures, full of fact. Useful information, yet… I feel talked to versus joined. A boundary invisibly set… Or, so it seems. The Greek stated: “Sir, I would like to see Jesus.” I want to see Him, too! I come in anticipation. I hear information about Him. Yet, it seems veiled. I saw […]
