All Who Call On Him

“Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:10–13, NIV 1984). 

My Musings – The oxygen masks have dropped, the cabin is de-pressurizing and the aircraft is in a dive.  Yet no one makes an effort to put on the masks.  Why not?  They all feel they are going to die anyway, so what’s the use?  They don’t believe in them?  They probably won’t work, so why bother?  I’ve got plenty of time, why rush?  They’re pretty sure things will work out in the end?

Do these excuses sound preposterous?  Of course they do!  And yet in the fear of what might come after death, many people still refuse to take Jesus seriously, by offering similar excuses.

My Advice – When giving the “safety talk” before taking off, flight attendants urge parents, in the event of sudden de-pressurization, to put on their own oxygen masks before assisting their children.  Why? If done the other way around there is a risk both could lose consciousness and perish.  Make sure you put on the “mask” that Jesus offers that will breathe into you the breath of life.  You will save yourself, and then be in a position to assist others.  Not saving yourself, could result in loved one also perishing.
