Ointment For The Itch

The time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. (2 Timothy 4:3, NIV 1984).

My Musings – The time has come. What are some things that itching ears want to hear these days? Many paths to God. Why would you want any other path than the one God provided? No hell. Wishing it were not so does not make it not so. Right and wrong are relative. That’s not what Jesus said. Live a “good” life and things will work in the end. What’s good enough and by who’s standard? And I could go on. But you get the picture.

My Advice – Itching ears are problematic. They can be temporarily soothed, like applying ointment to an itch. But masking the symptoms do not remove the cause, which eventually will have to be dealt with. Don’t gather with the charlatans. It may be natural to soothe the ears rather than listening with them, but the truth needs to be heard.
