Eyes Fixed

Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross. (Hebrews 12:1–2, NIV 1984).

My Musings – The race we run has already been marked out for us. Our inspiration, for how we should run the race, is Jesus. He endured what was marked out for Him (the cross) because He was able to see beyond the cross. He knew what awaited Him at the finish line. Likewise, we can persevere by fixing our eyes on what awaits us at the finish line – “Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.”

My Advice – Fixing our eyes on the goal helps us stay on course. Taking our eyes off the goal causes us to run outside the “markings.” Stay in your “lane.”

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
