Teach Them

“Do not forget the things your eyes have seen [your ears have heard] or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.” (Deuteronomy 4:9, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Our new grandson came for a visit this week, while his parents had work commitments the same week. We were glad to be able to be there for them. We cannot promise our grandson that we will be there for him all his life. But we can promise him that we will love him for all of our lives. There is also, much that are eyes have seen and that our ears have heard that we can share while we are in his life.

My Advice – We all have so much to offer our children and grandchildren. But inheritances and legacies pale in comparison to a spiritual heritage.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
