Should I Accept Them?

“Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?” says the Lord Almighty. (Malachi 1:8, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Offering what? “‘When you bring injured, crippled or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?’ says the Lord.” (Malachi 1:13, NIV 1984). No. They are not acceptable. But the fact is, even our first and best is not an acceptable offering to purchase our redemption. So, if we think that “better than most” should be “good enough” we are only fooling ourselves.

My Advice“Then they asked him, ‘What must we do to do the works God requires?’ Jesus answered, ‘The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.'” (John 6:28–29, NIV 1984). It is not what we do, for it will never be meet what “God requires.” It is what He has done, He paid the ransom price. “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” (Titus 3:4–5, NIV 1984). Not because He had to, but because He wanted to. We must believe.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.

One thought on “Should I Accept Them?”

  1. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
