“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?” (Luke 9:23–25, NIV 1984).
My Musings – C.S. Lewis is credited with saying, “You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.” We spend so much time trying to preserve our bodies, and give little life to thought to saving our self, our soul.
My Advice – “Why [be] downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” (Psalm 42:11, NIV 1984). We need not be disturbed within or worry about forfeiting our very self when we put our hope in God by coming after His Son.

The C.S. Lewis quote is fabulous and so is your comment that follows it. 🙂

Thanks Nancy! Big fan of C.S. Lewis. Mere Christianity is a favorite book of mine.

My daughter gave me a boxed set of Lewis’s Signature Classics, but I have not yet read “Mere Christianity.” That will be my next pick now. 🙂
