In his conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus equates being born again with spiritual birth. A bridge, if you will, that we must cross over before we can enter the Kingdom of God.
“I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24)

He was a prominent religious leader, a member of the ruling class called the Pharisees. His name was Nicodemus. He was used to people approaching him for answers, usually regarding questions of religious importance. He was supposed to have all the answers, and yet he felt compelled to approach this itinerant preacher from Galilee, who was really a carpenter by trade. And, as Nicodemus was to learn, being a religious authority did not always mean he knew all the answers. But he had found someone who did. His name was Jesus.
