My Musings – “Divorce her quietly” as opposed to “expose her to public disgrace” meant privately before two witnesses rather than publicly before a magistrate. It might have spared Mary some public humiliation, but she would have nonetheless likely been shunned and gossiped behind her back. The prospect for any future marriage unthinkable. Either way, Joseph’s reputation would remain intact.
While Joseph might be sparing Mary somewhat, he was still planning to “abandon” her and escape persecution himself. In all likelihood, before he was visited by the angel, he did not believe Mary. It would have been hard to believe her. But even if he were to abandon her, Mary was assured that the “Lord is with you.” That would have been enough, but through the angel, God persuaded Joseph to not divorce her. God selected a “highly favored” woman and a “righteous man” to parent His Son.
My Advice – Stick with God. Even though everything is collapsing around you, God will never abandon you.

God has a way of sending the right words of encouragement, at the right time, through often unexpected means. I am overjoyed that I could be used in such a way. Thank for your kind words. They are an encouragement to me too.

Yes, God is so amazing! ✨ He knows exactly what we need, and when we need it. These past 4 years have been some of the most difficult for me, but through it all I’ve gotten closer to God than I’ve ever been, and have been compelled to write through the pain. ✨ I know that He is going to work everything out, and it’s all being used for His glory. Through it all, I’ve lost so much, but gained much more! ✨Some days it seems hard to breath, but God always provides nourishment through His word. Thank you for continuing to write what the Holy Spirit leads. May God richly bless your ministry!🙌🏼✝️🙌🏼
