While We Wait

Original musing April 4, 2019. We’re doing a lot of waiting here lately, hoping for an end to the pandemic. As great a hope as that is, it is nothing compared to the blessed hope.

Titus 2:11-12For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and Godly lives in the present age, while we wait for the blessed hope-the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. (NIV 1978)

My Musings – Some would say that grace gives us the freedom to live our lives in any way we see fit, whether worldly or Godly, because we are no longer under the law. Yes, we are no longer under the law, but God’s grace not only saves us (where the law could not), it teaches us to live Godly lives and say no to behavior that the law condemns (which the law could not).

My Advice – Allow God’s grace to not only save you (which it has) but to lead…

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
