“God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19, NIV 1984).
My Musings – We are used to people breaking promises, lying and changing their minds. Untrustworthy, unreliable and fickle. For those who are agnostic or unacquainted with the Scriptures, they might expect the same from God. But God is not a man, nor is He like a man. When He speaks, He will act. When He promises, He will fulfill. Here’s one:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:1–3, NIV 1984).
There are many things we could be troubled about. But this is not one of them.
My Advice – Have you placed your trust in Christ? If you have, then you have this promise. If you have not placed your trust in Christ, the promise can still be yours if you do. Read my blog series “The Born Again Experience” to find out how.
