Original post June 14, 2019 from “A Dad’s Devotions.” As important as education is, it is not the only thing in life that teaches us. My mom and dad were unable to get beyond the 8th grade. But their learning went way beyond what any classroom could teach. My son graduated college summa cum laude, but realizes what he learned growing up at home and at church, while not giving him a diploma, gave him things just as valuable.
Education – To provide schooling by formal instruction or supervised practice.
Hebrews 5:11-6:1 – We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity. (NIV 1984)
My Musings – The world is full of educated fools, who have been taught but failed to learn. Who took in the teaching, but could not use (apply) it.
