Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.” (Joshua 5:13–14, NIV 1984).
My Musings – God is on our side. How many times have you heard that before? Now, multiply it by two, because the other side of the conflict has likely said the same thing. That is, if they had any belief in God at all.
The real question is not whether God is on our side, but rather if we are on God’s side. As I wrote in yesterday’s musings, “the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes.” (Daniel 4:32, NIV 1984). He causes the rise and fall or kings and kingdoms to carry out His divine plans.
My Advice – Make sure you are on God’s side (born again). It is the only way He can be on “your side.” “What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31, NIV 1984).
