Straight Paths

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV 1984).

My Musings – Can you imagine trust without acknowledgment?  How about trust while leaning on our own understanding?  Neither of these would be wholehearted trust, and trust that is not wholehearted in not really trust.  According to this verse, trusting in God wholeheartedly has two results:

Will Make –  Not maybe, will.  Because we are trusting in He who is absolute in His trustworthiness.

Paths Straight – Paths, not path.  Because wholehearted trust, means trusting Him with all our paths, not just some.

My Advice – Straight paths rarely result from meandering between trusting in the LORD and leaning on our own understanding.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
