The Path Less Grumbled

“Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.” (Psalm 119:35–37, NIV 1984).

My Musings – We may think that delight comes from pursuing wealth, fame, and selfish gain.  But they are worthless and will disappoint us in the end.  Preserve your life according to God’s Word (faith in Jesus Christ – “in the beginning was the word”).  Then follow the path marked out by God’s plan if you seek lasting delight.  Delight that is not dependent upon circumstances.  Delight that lasts beyond the grave.

My Advice – Turn your eyes away from the temporal to the eternal.  Turn your heart toward eternal reward, not selfish gain.

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
