Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? (John 14:8–10, NIV 1984).
My Musings – I believe in Jesus Christ [God’s] only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. (The Apostles’ Creed). Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father. (The Nicene Creed).
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. (Deuteronomy 6:4, NIV 1984).
“I and the Father are one.” (J0hn 10:30, NIV 1984).
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-2, 14, NIV 1984).
“I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” (John 8:58, NIV 1984).
My Advice – “You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” (C.S. Lewis).
Fall at HIs feet and call Him Lord and God, for “if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, ‘Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.’ For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” (Romans 10:9–13, NIV 1984).
Yesterday we urged people to not be foolish. Today, do not fall for any “patronizing nonsense.” “Fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God.”
