I’ll Follow the Son

One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas.” Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?  (1 Corinthians 1:12-13, NIV 1984).

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.  (1 Corinthians 3:5–7, NIV 1984).

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  (John 14:6, NIV 1924).

My Musings – It’s a dangerous game to follow anything or anyone other than Christ.  “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12, NIV 1984).

My Advice – “Some day, you’ll know He was the one, and tomorrow He’ll reign, so why not follow the Son?”*  Why not now?

*(with apologies to Paul McCartney).

I was raised in a Christian family and my earliest childhood memories include regular Sunday school and Church attendance as a family. I was taught that our Judeo-Christian values were not just a part of our Sunday routine they should be part of our character and influence all aspects of our lives. I was also taught that as important as these values were they could not save us. We must also be “born again” by accepting Christ.
